The more years I acquire, the more I find myself questioning humanity's right to claim top rung on the evolutionary ladder. What right do we have to make such grandiose statements when we choose to spend billions on wars instead of feeding the hungry and ensuring all have a roof over their heads. Were we to trade in bombs and tanks for food and shelter perhaps then we would have a right to make such bold declarations. Just because no other species on the planet has verbally contested our claims does not make it a fact. The more I look around the more disgusted I become with the state of our planet and the lack of interest in trying to change what we have been conditioned to accept as "the way it is".
Will we wake up in time to notice that our grip on that precarious top rung is slipping?
